The Old Bridge area, with its pre-Ottoman, Ottoman, Mediterranean and western European architectural features, is an outstanding example of a multicultural urban settlement. The reconstructed Bridge is a symbol of reconciliation, international co-operation and of the coexistence of diverse cultural, ethnic and religious communities.

Within the overall framework of the celebration, UNESCO and the City of Mostar are holding the “Historic Urban Landscape - MOSTAR 2015” conference in order to raise awareness on the importance of the management of historical cities. The opening of Mujaga Komadina’s Shop, a stone building whose reconstruction was fundeded by the City of Mostar, is planned for the afternoon of 3 July.

The highlight of the celebration will be an evening concert entitled "The Bridge Embracing the River Banks”, at the plateau under the Old Bridge, with a performance by the Mostar Symphonic Orchestra and soloist Ana Rucner.
