The project
“Faces” – this photography project of mine for the UNESCO “Pathways to a Culture of Peace” Global Contest for Mutual Understanding – revolves around human emotions captured in black-and-white. The usage of black-and-white in my work is actually two-pronged; other than serving as an extra challenge for myself in the aspect of photography, it also removes “colour” in a figurative way, to strengthen the purpose of my project, which is to prove that skin colours are nothing but clothing; deep inside, we’re all human, and thus, are part of a big family.
I have named each of my photos accordingly, to the stages that most people will experience – no matter Asian, European, or African.
Each of it signifies a crucial part of life that we have to experience as humans, and shows that we are not so different after all.
