The National Award is intended to honour Mauritian creators and performers for their outstanding contribution in the cultural and artistic fields.

The implementation of this policy has enabled the artists in:
(i) Recognition of the contribution of artists in the fields of arts and culture in Mauritius and their vital role in bringing fame and prestige to our country at national, regional and international level.
(ii) Promotion of artistic and cultural creativity and production in Mauritius.
(iii) Enhancement of the Mauritian cultural and artistic landscape by organizing an Award Ceremony in the fields of arts and culture.
