Key objectives of the measure:

Nigeria’s natural and cultural heritage constitutes a substantial part of the country’s tourism resources. Properly harnessed, managed and packaged, cultural and heritage tourism can significantly contribute to Nigeria’s economic development goals, workforce development and heritage preservation.

Main feature of the measure:

National Policy on Culture shall; Encourage collaborative learning programmes to ensure appropriate packaging of cultural assets and facilitate marketing programmes to increase cultural tourism; Strengthen relevant institutions to provide adequate training and services to maximize economic development opportunities via tourism industry; Integrate local communities into the management and exploitation of tourism industry; Preserve, protect and maintain public museums and heritage sites and all cultural facilities as a means to the ends of Cultural tourism; Develop a public education campaign for involving all Nigerians as tourism ambassadors

Results expected through the implementation of the measure:

Protection of Nigeria Cultural heritage sites

Development of Nigeria Tourism Sector.
