Key objectives of the measure:

Culture encapsulates the people’s living styles, patterns and habits which are central to their survival in the environment. The protection of the natural environment against againsts indiscriminate exploitation of mineral wealth, deforestation, erosion bush burning and desertification as well as natural disasters can be achieved through the instruments of culture.

Also to restore the  impaired cultural sites.

Main feature of the measure:

Consequently, the National Policy on Culture shall: Initiate national conservation policies for the protection, preservation, documentation and development of the tangible and intangible resources inherent in the environment; Ensure that a cultural Impact Assessment is a pre-requisite for every social and economic project and capital development plan; Harmonize indigenous knowledge and wisdom with conventional environmental management practices; and encourage educational institutions and research centres to document indigenous environmental knowledge and skills.

Results expected through the implementation of the measure:

The preservation of Cultural heritage and a natural ecosystem and using the instrumentality of culture in addressing the global warming issues.

Restoration of damaged cultural heritage sites as a result of Conflicts and infrastructural
