Key objectives of the measure:

Education should be functional, lifelong and balanced, allowing for training and acquisition of skills that bring together traditional knowledge and contemporary global issues.And so this measure intends to achieve amongst many:

Integration of traditional and contemporary knowlegde;

Preserve the Indigenous cultural heritage and Nigerian history;

Teach Nigerian Culture especially in primary and Secondary schools.

Main feature of the measure:

Nigeria’s educational system must be based on both the traditions and cultural values of her people and provide for the challenges of modernization, globalization and technology. Therefore, the National Policy on Culture shall: Involve public and private stakeholders in the restructuring of the total school environment from its physical structures to content and materials used in teaching and learning; Provide training programmes to improve professionalism in the education and cultural sectors;

Results expected through the implementation of the measure:

Promote an educational system that motivates and stimulates creativity, enhance cultural understanding and develops moral values and positive conduct,

An integrated traditional knowledge and practices with the global best practices

 

Financial resources allocated to implement the measure:

Statutory National budgetary allocation. Nigeria is a Federal States, Education is on a concurrent list.State and Local goverments also have budgets for education and Culture
