Cultural cooperation in the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation between Viet Nam and European Union
Promote cultural diversity and increase cultural understanding between parties involved
In 2012, Viet Nam and the European Union (EU) signed the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation (PCA) which broadens further scope of cooperation in many fields, including culture. In order to achieve common targets and promote the diversity of culture, the two Parties have agreed to strengthen the cooperation in implementing the 2005 Convention of UNESCO, focusing on policy dialogue, integration of culture in sustainable development and poverty reduction to promote the formation of a dynamic culture through developing cultural industries. Currently, concerned Parties have been completing the ratification process of the Agreement and discussing the establishment of sub-committees to implement the content of cooperation.
Viet Nam is supported by EU to implement the UNESCO Convention 2005 including the policy dialogue and specific projects in the development of cultural industries in Viet Nam.
The cooperation is expected to receive funds from State budget, EU funding and other sources from private sector as soon as the the Agreement is ratified.
