Your Guide to the 13th Intergovernmental Committee

Global leaders and non-governmental actors will meet at UNESCO Headquarters to discuss the implementation of the UNESCO’s Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Expressions at the 13th Intergovernmantal Committee from 11 to 14 February 2020.

Create | 2030

Create | 2030, a series of talks, will be held to examine cultural and creative industries’ contribution to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development from multiple perspectives. On 12 February, the session will look back on the 10 years of International Fund for Creative Diversity during “Investigating the long term impact of IFCD investments in creativity”. On 13 February, the panelists will engage in cutting-edge discussions during “The discoverability of diverse creative content in the digital environment”. Create | 2030 sessions will be moderated by George Pagagiannis, UNESCO's Chief of Media Services.

Getting around

Venue:

The Conference is held at UNESCO Headquarters.

 

Public transport:

The metro stations closest to UNESCO are Ségur (line 10), Cambronne (line 6) and Ecole Militaire and La Motte Piquet-Grenelle (line 8). Also, Saint François-Xavier (line 13) is a 10 – 15 min walk (see the map on p.10) away.

Buses 28, 80, 82, 87 and 92 serve the vicinity of UNESCO. The closest bus stops are Fontenoy/UNESCO (28), Duquesne-Lowendal (28, 80), Cambronne (80), Général de Bollardière (80, 82) and Ecole Militaire (28, 82, 87, 92).

 

Around Paris:

Metro (subway): Paris has a large and easy-to-use metro system that allows you to get around the city with just one type of ticket. One ticket (€ 1,90) is valid for one trip within zone 1 of the metro system regardless of the distance travelled. It is cheaper to buy 10-tickets at a time by asking for a “carnet” (€14.50).

Bus: You can use the same tickets for the bus as for the metro, with one ticket per trip. You must validate your ticket when you board the bus. Bus lines 28, 80, 82, 87 and 92 stop near UNESCO.

Transportation from Charles de Gaulle Airport:

Train: It is possible to take the RER B train (€10.30) from the airport into central Paris. The train takes around 40 minutes and brings you right into the centre of Paris, where it is easy to change to the metro and get to your accommodation. The RER B leaves from an underground station inside the airport.

Taxi: A taxi from the airport to central Paris will cost approximately € 55 euros.

Shuttle: You can also book online for a shared van. Cost is 33 € : https://en.supershuttle.fr/

Buses: The Roissybus runs between the airport and the ‘Opéra’ metro station (lines 3, 7 and 8). It runs between 6:00 a.m. and 00:30 p.m. and the cost is € 12. It stops at each terminal of the airport. Air France also has a shuttle bus that runs between the airport and the Metro ‘Charles de Gaulle – Etoile’ (lines 1, 2 and 6) between 5:45 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. A one way ticket is € 18 and this bus stops at all the terminals.

 

Transportation from Orly Airport:

Train: There is a train from Orly Airport called “Orlyval”. It runs between 6am and 11pm, and will take you to metro stations in the centre of Paris. The ticket from Orly to Paris costs €9.30. If you prefer, you can get off at the ‘Antony’ station and take the RER B train. In this case, you must buy another ticket at Antony before taking the RER B into Paris. The trip from Orly to Paris takes about 45 minutes.

Taxi: A taxi from the airport to central Paris will cost approximately €35.
