Webdesign/UI/UX internship opportunity

The Secretariat of the 2005 Convention is looking for a Webdesign/UI/UX intern. The Knowledge Management System (KMS) Creativity is a Drupal-based platform that promotes the work of the 2005 Convention by sharing good practices and knowledge and by collecting and systematically organizing complex data. The KMS platform also serves the distribution of key resources and publications. The internship will consist of working with the 2005 Convention Knowledge Management Team on the Creativity subsite (https://en.unesco.org/creativity).

Tasks

The internship would consist of collaborating with the 2005 Convention Knowledge Management team on the Creativity subsite. The following tasks will be part of the internship (non-exhaustive list):

  • Creating a set of template designs for different types of pages on the Creativity subsite
  • Refactoring existing CSS to performant and modular templates
  • Improving general user experience on the Creativity subsite in consultation with the KMS team
  • Creating a set of templates for News/Events/… publications
  • Alongside the KMS specialist, integrating the produced work on the production website
  • Depending on the experience of the applicant, assistance in maintenance of the Drupal environment
  • General assistance to the KMS team

Experience Required

  • Extensive HTML5, CSS3 and JS experience
  • Excellent knowledge of at least 1 of UNESCO’s official working languages (English, French)
  • Enrolled in relevant (BS/MS) programme in a university or equivalent institution

OR

  • Degree (BS/MS) in a relevant programme in a university or equivalent institution

Additional qualifications

The following qualifications are not required but will be considered an asset in the selection of the candidate:

  • Working knowledge of 1 or more other UNESCO official languages
  • Experience with Drupal 7
  • PHP experience
  • Previously worked on Webdesign/UI/UX projects

Timeline

Internships at UNESCO range from 3 to 6 month assignments. Duration and start date is to be discussed with the selected applicant.
