Spain’s private providers of digital terrestrial television services with national coverage will receive €15 million (US$16.6 million) in subsidies to help them cope with the drastic fall in advertising revenues. The government recognises their essential role in providing information and entertainment during the lockdown. The aid will be proportionate to their national coverage in terms of population percentage. Broadcasting services find themselves in a paradoxical situation with record audiences and at the same time a significant drop in revenues since the beginning of the crisis due to the cancellation of advertising campaigns.
