Context/Overview

This component is expected to enhance the capacity of the cultural and creative sectors to promote inclusive, fair and sustainable economic development in the Republic of Moldova. Through the proposed activities, creative and cultural industries will be empowered to better face socio-economic challenges, including those caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. In the long run, the project will create synergies to promote the diversity of cultural expressions in the digital environment. The project will support the implementation of the Moldova Culture 2020 Strategy, which is integral part of the National Development Strategy “Moldova 2020”, with two strategic priorities: development of a Cultural and Creative Sector (CCS) that contributes to economic development and social well-being, and promotion of culture as a driving force in education. Additionally, the project will contribute to the Government Action Plan for 2020-2023 that is directed towards developing effective policies to stimulate cultural consumption as well as encouraging private investments in cultural heritage. The overall intention is to integrate culture and creative economy into the new State Policy Moldova 2030 in order to foster the country’s competitiveness and sustainable development.
