There are, in Kingston old quarters, a geography of dereliction, social discomfort and crime that rank this city in the top thirty in the world with respect to murder. However, this city is a global cultural icon, the birthplace of six distinct musical genres. Kingston is waiting to be the catalyst for the expansion of cultural tourism in Jamaica. The city beckons to imagine tourism differently to reflect the creative ethos it birthed which changed the musical landscape of the world forever.

Over the first weekend of May, Kobe will host its City of Design Kobe Creative City Council, a pilot project intended to facilitate the transmission of new cultural products and modes of expression. Engaging youth in this process is crucial and the event seeks to involve them in every creative aspect.
Officials, practitioners and civil society representatives met in Ulyanovsk 23 March to celebrate the city’s first year in the UCCN and look forward to its future activities. From 20 to 23 April, Barcelona will have the great pleasure to host the 2017 Creative Cities Sub-Network Meeting, after Dublin in 2016. During two full days, the Creative Cities of Literature will share knowledge, experiences and develop future collaborative projects in order to strengthen the sub-network.
Saint-Etienne, a UNESCO Creative City of Design, chose Detroit, its counterpart designated in 2015, as the guest of honor of the 10th International Design Biennial of Saint-Etienne, held from 9 March to 9 April 2017. 
On 2 April, on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, Parma, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, lighted up its monuments in blue, together with cities in Italy and around the world, for raising awareness on a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects one child out of 68.
