Despite being a vibrant and popular city, boosting strong economic growth and business development, Chengdu is experiencing environmental degradation. As a UCCN City of Gastronomy, culinary heritage is highly valued within the city; however, due to the use of coal, the industry is having a negative impact on the surrounding environment. Currently, the government and local environmental protection agencies are developing initiatives aimed at tackling environmental issues without impacting the sector.
