Sustainable Fashion Design by BIAAF & Bilbao BBK Live promotes eco-responsible collections
Bilbao, a UNESCO Creative City of Design in Spain, is home to BIAAF, a leader platform for emerging international fashion talents. In partnership with some 700 international schools, its biennial contest has reached over 6,000 designers in 90 countries. BIAAF is part of the United Nations SDGs support and development platform.
Bilbao BBK Live calls for innovation and the continuous evolution of the festival with BIAAF, inviting emerging designers from the avant-garde schools in the world to submit their capsule collection proposals to the festival, first for its 2019 edition.
The choosen collection is designed by Inti Núñez and Erica Oubiña (Ïk.Studio). The jury settled on an eco-responsible and environmentally friendly collection developed from textiles made of recycled fibers from plastics dumped into the sea, organic cotton, as well as patterning and print techniques that minimize waste generation during the production phase. A further consideration was local production.
BIAAF is committed to promote sustainable fashion and SDGs. This platform try to make new partnerships to boost new fashion designers and a more sustainable industry.
