Sapporo to Celebrate Winter through Art Events Collaboration
On the first week of February 2019, three art events celebrating winter will be held simultaneously under the common theme of "winter art" in Sapporo, UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts in Japan.
These events will include Sapporo WInterChange, a new programme that begins at Sapporo Community Plaza, a general cultural facility opened in October 2018, to encourage interaction and exchange between artists, art event promotors and visitors. This programme is collaborating with the Sapporo Icicle Festival 2019, and the snow and light event Sapporo Yukiterrace 2019, which are held respectively at Shiryokan (Sapporo Former Court of Appeals) and at Sapporo Kita 3-jo Plaza, also known as « Akapla ».
These collaborative events will welcome, as exhibitors or speakers, local and foreign artists and field experts, such as the SIAF Lab and the SIAF 2020 (Sapporo International Art Festival 2020) Curatorial Director for Media Art.
These events will give everyone the opportunity (re)discover the beauty of winter in Sapporo.
