Design Month Graz stimulates design potential to build a sustainable future

Sat, 05/08/2021 to Sun, 06/06/2021

To highlight design’s transformative potential in development, Graz (Austria), a UNESCO Creative City of Design, has launched the “Design Month Graz”. The initiative aims to provide insights into various creative disciplines, while connecting design creators to share their projects and ideas with each other. Building on joint reflection, the initiative will offer a space for innovative projects to promote the significance and perception of design as a revitalizing power in local sustainable development.

From 8 May to 6 June, 2021, the “Design Month Graz” will bring together a diverse set of local and international partners to discuss how design can support in building a better future. Based on the awareness that the climate emergency represents humanity's greatest challenge, a radical rethink of our economy and lifestyle is required. New approaches to production and consumption, mobility, work and housing will demand a higher level of creative thinking.

In this context, the 2021 edition of “Design Month Graz” will focus its programme  on the theme 'Better Future'. Comprising of exhibitions, lectures, workshops, presentations and guided tours, the initiative will present the economic and social value and meaning of design to the public, while focusing on how design can offer solutions and possibilities for a better future.

Numerous virtual and online experiences will be available on the UNESCO City of Design Graz website, at the link below.
