Kaunas, a UNESCO Creative City of Design, is organizing a one-stage anonymous design contest to seek a design concept for the city’s new Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis Concert Centre.
The centre would facilitate as a modern concert venue, as well as provide multifunctional spaces for conferences, congresses and symposia. The design contest aims to select projects that incorporate three major facets to make the centre an emblematic building that lives up to Kaunas’ exceptional architectural heritage, by using artistic approaches to foster a sense of shared experience, and acts as a catalyst for a wider regeneration.
Three design concepts will be preselected and awarded a prize of 25,000 EUR. The municipality of Kaunas will then decide upon a single preferred bidder. The selected bidder will be awarded the contract to take the project through the design stages.
Architects and designers from the UNESCO Creative Cities are encouraged to participate in this competition and submit their entries by 2 p.m. (GMT +3), 6 September 2017 at the latest via https://competitions.malcolmreading.co.uk/kaunasconcertcentre/register
