Call for entries | Karlsruhe Media Arts Film Scholarship 2023
Until 31 May 2023, the Karlsruhe Media Arts Film Scholarship 2023 is calling for entries for short film ideas.
Karlsruhe, a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts, is organizing the third edition of the Karlsruhe Media Arts Film Scholarship, with the support of Filmboard Karlsruhe and the INDEPENDENT DAYS | Internationale Filmfestspiele Karlsruhe. This international ternational scholarship gives the opportunity for independent filmmakers and creatives with limited financial resources, including students, to produce a low-budget project with 3,000 euros. Open to all creative professionals working in the fields of media arts and film, and particularly addressed to those from UNESCO Creative Cities, all short film ideas – whether fictional, experimental or documentary – are welcome. For the first time, this year’s edition is also encouraging immersive project ideas: short film ideas that have not yet been implemented and last no more than 10 minutes.
For several years, the city of Karlsruhe has contributed to facilitating collaboration in media art projects with other Creative Cities. In 2022, the jury of the Media Arts Film Scholarship received a total of 77 submissions from all over the world and the winner was Dutch media artist Anne Fehres for her film idea « Unfolding », exploring the relationship between human and nature.
A jury of experts will select one idea from all the submissions. The prize will allow the winner to make a professional digital art film with the support of Filmboard Karlsruhe, including script development, shooting, post-production and music composition, with a 3,000 euros budget.
The deadline for applications is May 31, 2023. The premiere of the final project will take place as part of the INDEPENDENT DAYS | Karlsruhe International Film Festival.
