“Working Promesse | Shifting work paradigms”: the 2017 Biennale Internationale Design of Saint-Étienne

The tenth edition of the Biennale Internationale Design of Saint-Étienne will be held from 9 March to 9 April 2017 in Saint-Étienne (France). Organized by the Cité du design, the Biennale will focus on the general theme “Working Promesse, Shifting work paradigms”.

Since its first edition in 1998, the Biennale Internationale Design of Saint-Étienne, has gained an international reputation in the field of design, attracting an annual audience of more than 200,000. The aim is to reveal the current state of design and creativity in the international level and to invite visitors to question themselves on the evolution of societies and on contemporary ways of life. 

The Biennial will be the opportunity to gather the different international partners of the Cité du design, including 22 UNESCO Creative Cities. Detroit, Creative City of Design will be the Guest of Honour and will be showcased through 2 dedicated exhibitions, talks, a “Detroit coffee-shop”, and concerts. The program also includes a series of workshops, a roundtable with Mayors and Coordinators of the UCCN, a Call for the Network’s Design start-ups, an exhibition and a special event on the European project “HumanCities_Challenging the City Scale” led by Saint-Étienne, and many more events to be discovered.
