Born in the province of Lara in 1939, Mr. Luís Alberto Crespo studied journalism at the
Universidad Central de Venezuela and in Paris.

He was Director of the Literature Section of the newspaper El Nacional, Director of Cultural
Information of the news agency Venpres and the weekly magazine Imagen.

Most of his professional life was spent in the field of literature and he was awarded with the
National Culture Prize of Venezuela in 2010-2012.

He has published more than 30 books of poetry and is considered as one of the most important
poets of Venezuela.
