International Peace Day Celebrations at Roots School System Pakistan

<p align="center"><strong><u>ROOTSIANS TAKE PLEDGE TO BE A BETTER CITIZEN TO MAKE THEIR COUNTRY A PEACEFUL LAND&rdquo;</u></strong></p><p>Rawalpindi: Monday, 22<sup>nd</sup> September 2014 Roots School System which is very actively participating in international projects and forums through student networking and global projects committed to a culture of peace, harmony, friendship and tolerance between the youth of the world celebrated &ldquo;World Peace Day&rdquo; to express their feelings, ideas and visions of a peaceful world by holding poster competition, poetry competition, essay competition, tableau competition and speech competition on the theme &ldquo; Citizenship- How can we contribute to make our community better&rdquo;.</p><p>Citizenship is an important trait that is best developed at a young age. Whether you are a teacher, a parent or a community youth leader, you can help kids develop citizenship skills by teaching them what it means to be a citizen. As you teach them what it means to be a citizen of the nation, also have them think about what it means to be a resident of your community and a citizen of the world. Students need to learn the importance of contributing to their school and community.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; They should have compassion and show kindness towards others.&nbsp; They should also show humility and consider the needs of others.&nbsp; Serving and helping others is also of great importance.&nbsp; Building citizenship skills helps students feel that they can be contributors to others and can do work that benefits their community.&nbsp; This shows them that their lives are important now and sets a foundation for becoming active citizens in adulthood.</p><p>Rootsians depicted this day with enlightening activities. Students were given different themes to write essays on citizenship &amp; Peace. Students presented a magnificent tableau on theme &ldquo;Honesty is the best policy&rdquo;. Students also made a &ldquo;Rule book&rdquo; with the help of their teachers. Teachers gave presentations to educate students about &ldquo;empathy, honesty, sharing and caring.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Students made head gears with the help of their art teachers. Students were wearing head gears and holding banners with written slogans like &ldquo; Follow the rules to become a good citizen&rdquo;, &ldquo; spread love ,give flower and make life beautiful like rainbow&rdquo;, &ldquo; grow happiness, love and peace&rdquo;, &ldquo; live together in peace&rdquo;, &ldquo;let there be peace in the world&rdquo;, &ldquo;join hands to be a volunteer&rdquo;, &ldquo; let all love peace with warm&rdquo;, &ldquo;we all smile in one language&rdquo;, &ldquo;respect the rights of others&rdquo;, &ldquo; friendship promotes peace&rdquo; etc.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Mrs. Riffat Mushtaq, Founder Director RSS highlighted the worth and importance of peace by saying, &ldquo;On this International Day of Peace, let us pledge to teach our children the value of tolerance and mutual respect.&nbsp; Let us invest in the schools and teachers that will build a fair and inclusive world that embraces diversity.&nbsp; Let us fight for peace and defend it with all our might&rdquo;.</p><p>In the end all students signed a pledge to be a good citizen&amp; to make their country a peaceful land.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
