Living in an environment of peace and security is fundamental to human dignity and development. Global Citizenship is key to world peace, and peace is essential for sustainable development.

Both Global Citizenship Education and Education for Sustainable Development aim to achieve and preserve a peaceful and sustainable living-together as ultimate goal.

The International Peace Day will be celebrated on 21 September under the theme “right of peoples to peace”, selected to mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Right of Peoples to Peace by the United Nations.

We invite you to celebrate Peace Day and take action at your school!

- Keep one minute of silence and light a candle to give a momentum to world peace.
- Discuss and tell us in words or pictures what the “Right of Peoples to Peace” means to you personally and for your community.
- Find quotations on peace known in your country and share them with us.
- Send a message of peace to a participating member from another country through the ASPnet in Action online platform.

Tell us about your actions and ideas!

We wish you a peaceful and happy International Day of Peace!
