Passing on culinary traditions - Italy

A journey through the flavours of the Amalfi coast

The work made by second year students of the Liceo "Regina Margherita" Salerno presents some typical products of the Amalfi coast, in the South of Italy, and some culinary traditions of the area. Through this multimedia work students want to show that food ties up the past with the present since some modern dishes have ancient origins, but also to demonstrate how important it is not to forget what for centuries has been vital for the inhabitants of these areas.

The students conducted research on the origins of some traditional dishes and wished to pass on to the new generations some recipes which represent the wealth of the immaterial heritage of the Amalfi coast. The inclusion of all pupils has been one of the fundamental objectives and active participation in the work motivated them.
