World Peace Day tree planting - Dominican Republic

This initiative was organized as part of the preparatory activities for our tenth Environment Online (ENO) Tree Planting Day, in which 10,000 schools from 157 countries participated. We began by telling the pupils about the planting activities undertaken in previous years, explaining the causes and consequences of mass deforestation around the world and the need for everyone to plant more and more trees to offset the damage caused.

With the support of the Secretary of the Environment, the education institutions Centro de Formación Los Clavelines, Politécnico Santa Ana and Colegio San José Obrero, 83 students of different ages and educational levels held a mass (mahogany) tree planting day on 20 September. To mark World Peace Day, they planted a total of 2,000 trees and contributed to protecting biodiversity.
