Rich libraries - Rich people - Greece
Driven by the annual celebration of 'The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty' and our sensitivity towards people being deprived of basic goods, on 16th October 2014 the principal of our high school in collaboration with our teacher of Economics organised a discussion on poverty and its impact on society. Our teachers from all classes were motivated to gather old, used books as well as new ones.
The school library was soon equipped and is still enriched with Greek and foreign books, old and more updated editions thanks to our students' immediate interest and generosity. In this way, students originating from families with financial problems can benefit from this action by borrowing books. What counted most, though, was that the notions of solidarity and empathy became alive in our small school community.
Our students' offers were really touching!!!
