South-East Asia-Pacific Audio Visual Archive Association

Objectives and Mission: 

To provide a regional forum for addressing common issues and concerns related to the collection and preservation of, and provision of access to, the audiovisual heritage of member countries.
Fields of activity: Awareness and promotion of audiovisual archiving at the national, regional and international levels; networking and communication; training; technical studies; and collection development.

General description: 

The Association is focused on collecting, managing, preserving and providing access or making use of a collection of audiovisual and related materials within its geographic region and has cooperative relationships with other international bodies (audiovisual archiving associations) towards that end. These bodies include, inter alia, the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) and the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA). The publications of both have included news and articles about SEAPAVAA activities, and a joint IASA/SEAPAVAA annual conference was held in Singapore in July 2000.
