The main objectives of the Russian Peace Foundation include:
promotion and enhancement of peace, friendship and understanding between peoples,
promotion of the ideas of humanism and charity, philanthropy,
prevention of national, religious and social conflicts,
human rights protection,
preservation of environment,
development of international cooperation, scientific, cultural and youth exchange, etc.

The RPF is the successor of the Soviet Peace Foundation created in 1961.
The RPF implements peace-making and charity projects, organizes conferences, seminars and meetings of influential public figures from conflicting nations or ethnic groups, developing all forms of humanitarian aid to needy people and refugees in the regions of national conflicts and ecological calamities. It collaborates with the UN information center and other international organizations, NGOs and foundations, actively supporting and participating in UN initiatives. It coordinates the activities of local peace foundations and other member-organizations, publishes its statements and appeals to the public opinion, information on the activities of the UN, other international and national organizations and prepares and publishes in-depth studies and booklets on specific aspects of peace-making in the region of former states CIS.
