To help in the construction for all men of a more authentically human world, founded on respect for the life, conscience and rights of every human being. To promote the freedom and political and social responsibility of individuals and collective institutions. Priority issues: Peace culture; human rights; humanitarian action.

General description: 

Peace Award. The 2008 Pax Christi International Peace Award was awarded to the Franciscan priest, Dom Luiz Flávio Cappio, the bishop of Barra in the state of Bahia, Brazil , and the members of the Brazilian community who have worked with him.
