Leonard Cheshire Disability works for a society in which every person is equally valued and believes that disabled people should have the freedom to live their lives the way they choose - with the opportunity and support to live independently, to contribute economically and to participate fully in society.
Its mission is to enable disabled people to improve their quality of life and to campaign for the removal of the barriers which hinder their participation in society as equals. LCD promotes and defends the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and other international instruments that seek to promote and protect the rights of disabled people.
In addition, LCD seeks to change attitudes and responses to disability that have a positive impact on policy globally, regionally and nationally.
