International Scientific Council For Island Development

Objectives and Mission: 

INSULA promotes international scientific, technical and cultural cooperation among islands, particularly small islands, in view of their economic and social development and with special regard to their natural environment.

General description: 

Assists island communities with education and training programmes, economic analyses and all other scientific and technical activities needed for integrated planning and judicious use of natural and human resources. Participates in: technical cooperation; information exchange; research activities; conferences and seminars. Works on inter-island agreements directed towards islands' common interests; works towards international implementation of European projects, particularly in the areas of Information Society, Renewable Energy and Water Management.
