International Federation Of Coalitions For Cultural Diversity

Objectives and Mission:

The International Federation of Coalitions for Cultural Diversity (IFCCD) succeeds the International Liaison Committee for Coalitions for Cultural Diversity (ILC-CCD), an informal body which had operated since March 2003 to mobilize civil society, notably cultural professional organizations. Its main mission is to serve as the voice of cultural professional organizations in defending the right of States to apply policies and other measures in support of their domestic cultural sectors, thereby advancing cultural diversity at the national, regional and international levels. IFCCD also works to support action that strengthens the application of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions at the national, regional and international levels.

General description:

Representing the voice of cultural professional organizations, IFCCD has been active to hold major international meetings of coalitions and cultural professional organizations as well as to participate in intergovernmental meetings organized by UNESCO, International Network of Cultural Policy, Organisation internationale de la francophonie, Organization of American States, and African Union. It also participated in external seminars and public events organized by local and private partners. The Federation publishes Coalition Currents, which is an international newsletter to representatives of more than 1000 cultural organizations in more than 100 countries.
