International Council Of Jewish Women

Objectives and Mission: 

Promote friendly relations and understanding among Jewish women of all countries; uphold and strengthen the bonds of [Judaism] worldwide; show solidarity with Israel and support its efforts to secure a just and lasting peace, economic security and social, educational and cultural development; further the best and highest interests of humanity in the fields of international relations, government, social welfare and education; support the UN Universal Declaration of [Human Rights]; encourage each affiliate to work for improvement of social, economic and legal status of all women under Jewish and civil law; assist affiliates in programme formulation and implementation; encourage and assist in the education, training and use of volunteers.

General description: 

Affiliates' activities concentrate on social-welfare projects within their countries on behalf of women, children, the elderly, handicapped and the general population. Represents the affiliates at international bodies and fora in upholding equal rights of women and Jewish women, combating antisemitism, promoting frameworks for Jewish education for women, networking among Jewish professional and business women, supporting Israel and advancing human rights in general.
