Following the tragic events in Paris last night and in solidarity with the people of France, UNESCO projected the word PEACE in the six official languages of the Organization in a monumental animation on the façade of the UNESCO building in the presence of the Director-General, Irina Bokova. This serves as a reminder for us to turn our attention to the basic principles that drive the international community toward a just world, along the lines of UNESCO’s motto “We must construct the defenses of peace in the minds of women and men”.

The Director-General also expressed her solidarity with France in a statement issued this morning.
