Sweden supports UNESCO’s Transparency portal

06 July 2016

In July 2016 Government of Sweden provided contribution of  SEK 1.5 million million for UNESCO’s transparency portal. The main purpose of the project is to improve the transparency portal, the platform developed and launched in March 2015, enabling the Organization to publish programming data in accordance with the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) Activity Standard. Transparency is one of the pillars of UNESCO’s Reform Agenda.

With the decision of UNESCO’s Executive Board in its Autumn Session in 2015 to introduce structured financing dialogues to facilitate a dialogue with Member States and donors on the resourcing of UNESCO’s Programme and Budget, the enhanced Transparency Portal will be an important tool to help monitor and follow up the adequacy, predictability, flexibility, transparency and alignment of both regular programme and extrabudgetary resources, including information on resource requirements through the provision of user friendly and regularly updated information on resource flows.
