On 29th and 30th of October of 2015 the Khartoum office of UNESCO supported UN Country Team in organizing the celebration of the UN day. This year the UN day was marked by the 70th anniversary of United Nations.
UN agencies in Sudan together with national partners organized a series of events and activities including a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a lecture on the UN Charter at the University of Khartoum, an Art Contest under the theme “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” in collaboration with the Ahfad University for Women, and an Open Day in the National Museum of Sudan, where agencies welcomed Sudanese people presenting their activities in Sudan. More than 10 thousand people visited the exhibitions of the UN Open Day.
On 30th of October of 2015 H.E. Marta Ruedas, UN Resident Coordinator and UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, offered a reception, where representatives of governmental and diplomatic communities, as well as other UN partners, enjoyed the UN hospitality in the premises of the Sudanese National Museum.
