The 9th UNESCO Youth Forum is due to kick-off at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on Monday 26 October. Young Global Citizens for a Sustainable Planet will bring together over 500 young women and men from all over the world to focus on issues related to Climate Change and Sustainable Development.
The Opening Plenary will feature a series of inspirational speakers, including Moctar Dembele, the young inventor of an anti-Malaria soap; Salim Salamah, a young Syrian refugee who grew up in the Yarmouk camp in Damascus and went on to become a youth activist; and Cecilia Garcia, a Mexican gender-equality activist, amongst others.
The Youth Forum team are working with journalism students from The American University of Paris to run a student newsroom throughout the Forum. The students will be producing a daily newsletter containing interviews, highlights and up-to-the-minute news. A new edition will be published on each day of the Forum so keep checking back.
The event will also be live-streamed here (add link) so those not in attendance will still be able to follow the speeches and performances as they happen and if you’d like to chat to youth participants and get involved in the conversation in the run-up to the Forum, join the 9th UNESCO Youth Forum Facebook group. You can also follow events as they happen on Twitter using the #YouthForum hashtag.
