International Women Day with Sudanese Journalists and Academics in Khartoum

On 13 March 2017, the Women Department of the Sudanese Journalist Union and the National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums with support of the Khartoum office of UNESCO organized a celebration of the International Women Day, putting it in the context “Women in Sudanese History”. The event was took place in the premises of the Sudanese Journalists Union in Khartoum and attracted around one hundred participants.

After short welcoming speeches, the participants of the celebration enjoyed of lectures of the Director General of the National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums Dr. Abdelrahman Ali “The role of Sudanese Women in ancient Sudan”, and Dr. Nuha Abdelhafiz from Faculty of Art of the University of Khartoum “The role of Sudanese women in the art of pottery making”. In the end, a performance of the chorus of the Ahfad University for Women successfully completed the agenda of the event.

The celebration was honored by H.E. Ms Zainab Ahmed Eltayeb, the Member of the National Assembly, the Head of Women Wing of the National Congress party, Ms Amna Abdelrahman Elsaidah, the Member of the National Assembly, Dr. Pavel Kroupkine, UNESCO Representative to Sudan, Dr. Abdelrahman Ali, the General Director of the National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums, Dr Salah Omer Elshaikh, the Secretary General of the journalists union, and other respective representatives of Ministries, Universities, Media and NGOs.
