UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, will be in Stockholm on 2-3 September to take part in World Water Week 2013.
The event, held as part of the International Year of Water Cooperation led by UNESCO, will bring together over 200 collaborating organizations to explore the theme “Water Cooperation – Building Partnerships”. The Director-General will participate in the opening ceremony and in a High Level Panel entitled “Building Partnerships on Water Cooperation for Future Oriented Decisions and Forcing Implementation”. Panellists will include Mr. Angel Gurría, General Secretary of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, Mr. Peter Bakker, President of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Ms. Yolanda Kakabadse, President of the World Wide Fund for Nature International and Dr. Ursula Schaefer-Preuss, Chair of the Global Water Partnership.
While in Stockholm, the Director-General will meet with several government officials.
