Biosphere Reserves of the Asia-Pacific Region in the Center of Discussion

On July 21 2016 in Bali, Indonesia, began its work Interregional Conference to fostering collaboration between UNESCO in the field and networks towards the 2030 agenda, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015. The meeting will be held the third meeting of the Network of Biosphere Reserves of the Asia-Pacific region.

The event was organized by the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science in Asia and Pacific (Jakarta). At the opening ceremony were the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Jakarta, Mr. Shahbaz Khan and General Secretary of the National Commission for UNESCO Malaysia, Mr. Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman.

UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office represented by Mr. Andrei Sergeyevich Сhevelev, Officer-in-Charge, Director and Ms. Natalia Kim, Natural Sciences Assistant.

Kazakhstan is represented at the meeting by Professor Roman Vasilyevich Yaschenko, Chairman of the Kazakhstan National Committee of UNESCO Program "Man and Biosphere" (MAB), the Head of the UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Development at al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

During four-day meeting participants will discuss collaboration between UNESCO in the field and networks towards the UN 2030 agenda.
