The National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi with the support of the UNESCO Office in Tashkent will organize the XI International Conference "Central Asia - 2017: Information and Library Resources in Science, Education, Culture and Business" in Namangan on 25-26 April, 2017.

The conference will contribute to the formation of the media and information culture of the information and library specialists.

The UNESCO expert Ms Natalya Gendina, Director of the Research Institute of Information Technologies of Social Sphere of the Kemerovo State University of Culture and Arts and Ms Elena Kosolapova - co-author of the educational and methodical complex "Information Culture of Schoolchildren" will participate in the conference.

The following events will be held within the framework of the conference:

- April 17-23, Training of trainers for 32 information and library specialists on the educational-methodical complex "Information culture of schoolchildren”. The aim of the training is to teach specialists of information and library institutions of Uzbekistan on Media and Information Literacy.

- April 26, seminar on introduction of the educational and methodological complex “Information culture of schoolchildren” into the work of the school libraries. It is expected to increase the theoretical and practical knowledge of information and library institutions in the field of information culture and media literacy, as well as create information culture and media literacy of users and strengthen local capacities of information and library specialist.
