Workshop on "Integrating Media and Information Literacy into Curricula and Programs of Secondary Special and Professional Educational Institutions"
On April 12-14, 2017 in Golden Valley Hotel in Tashkent, UNESCO organizes a workshop on "Integrating Media and Information Literacy into Curricula and Programs of Secondary Special and Professional Educational Institutions" within the framework of the project "Promoting Media and Information Literacy (MIL) and building media capacity in qualitative non-news programming in Uzbekistan," funded by the UK government.
The purpose of this workshop is to identify effective methods for integrating media and information literacy (MIL) into classes, which are conducted in secondary special and professional educational institutions (SSPEI). This event will serve as a platform for discussions of teacher training curriculum as a tool for promoting MIL, identifying key problems of its adaptation to the country’s background and cultural characteristics.
The workshop will be attended by 25 representatives of various educational institutions of the SSPE system, namely methodologists, curriculum developers, and teachers of SSPEIs.
Also, the official opening of the project will be timed to this workshop with the speeches from the UNESCO Representative in Uzbekistan, Ms. Krista Pikkat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Uzbekistan, Mr. Christopher Allan, and the First Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education, Director of the Center for Secondary Special and Professional Education, Mr. Umidjon Salimov.
