Workshop on Debating and Public Speaking Skills
As part of the celebration of International Youth Day 2014, UNESCO, in cooperation with UN Women and the British Council, will hold a one-day training workshop under the title “Debating and public speaking skills” at the Greek campus in Downtown Cairo, on 12 August 2014. The aim will be to provide young Egyptian women and men the opportunity to develop their debating and public presentation skills.
The workshop will enhance their creativity and confidence in presentation, negotiation, speaking in public and voicing their opinion.
Following historic events in the region, Arab societies are facing common challenges related to promoting public voice and building democratic and pluralistic communities. Communities are striving to get their voices heard, to contribute in shaping the policies that affect their daily lives and future, and aspire to live in democratic and pluralistic countries that respect their opinions, where they are able to voice their needs and aspirations.
Young Arabs are at the core of their communities and have proven that they are the catalysts for change, the active and innovative tier, a tier that is able to first hand touch the grievances of their communities and be their appointed public voices.
