On the occasion of the International Day of Peace (21 September), the Sector for Social and Human Sciences of UNESCO, in collaboration with the UNESCO-NGO Liaison Committee is organizing a round table on "Words of Peace: how to work for the right of peoples to peace?".

This meeting is part of the Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace and Non-violence and also contributes to the objectives of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022), for which UNESCO is the lead agency for the United Nations system.

Discussion will be on the implementation of the right of peoples to peace, echoing thus the theme chosen by the United Nations to celebrate this Day in 2014, with a particular focus on the role and action of civil society to build the foundation for universal peace.

The round table will be followed by the screening of the film "Marionettes lyrics" by Claude Yvans.
