Water and Human Settlements of the Future: 4th Advisory Committee of experts meeting
This Advisory Committee of experts helps UNESCO's International Hydrological Programme (UNESCO-IHP) on its Theme 4 ‘Water and Human Settlements of the Future’. will take place in Paris at UNESCO-HQ from 8 to 10 March 2017. It comprises a large and diverse group of men and women renowned for their competencies and experiences in field of water management. They come from distinct regions and represent different types of water stakeholders like national governments, local governments, water utilities, researchers and NGOs.
The AC meets once or twice a year. It supports UNESCO-IHP by providing advice on agenda items, by contributing to projects within the framework of the IHP-VIII Strategic Plan, and by granting access to its wide network of water related contacts.
The previous meeting of the AC took place in Singapore, on 09-12 July 2016, during the Singapore International Water Week. The 4th meeting of the AC, beyond the traditional review of ongoing IHP Theme 4 projects, will allow for reporting on the main regional trends and opportunities that could lead to the emergence of new fields of work or reinforce current activities
Furthermore, the last day of the meeting, 10 March, will provide opportunities to meet with historical and institutional partners of IHP in order to develop synergies.
