Brazil has attained historical achievements, which are the result of the continuous work to guarantee rights, improve the living conditions and generate opportunities for all Brazilians. The Seminar will present the Brazilian strategy of development with social inclusion. It will also discuss the new needs of the fight against poverty, especially in urban territories, drawing on the experiences of civil society.
The event is a partnership between the Government of Brazil, the Central Union of Favelas (CUFA), UNESCO in Brazil, and the World Bank. During the Seminar there will also be the Launching Ceremony of the Central Union of Favelas (CUFA) Global
Network. The event will take place in ECOSOC Chamber, United Nations Headquarters, New York (USA), Friday, 18 September, 2015. It will start at 3:00 p.m. with a welcome speech by
Ambassador Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations.
