UNESCO Assisting Bioethics Committees (ABC) Project: 2nd Training of the National Bioethics Committee in Ecuador
The Second Training of the National Bioethics Committee will take place from 8 to 12 June 2015 in Quito, Ecuador, within the framework of the UNESCO Assisting Bioethics Committees (ABC) Project.
To follow-up on the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 7 April 2014 between the Latin America and the Caribbean Bioethics and Ethics of Sciences Programme of UNESCO's Office in Montevideo and the National Bioethics Committee (created by national decree in March 2014), work has continued between national authorities of Ecuador, in particular the Ministry of Health, the Committee, and national experts. By means of this agreement, the Committee will be receiving technical assistance and training by UNESCO for a period of three years.
For the second training, Eduardo Rueda from Universidad Javeriana of Colombia, María Luisa Pfeiffer of CONICET, Argentina, and Susana Vidal of UNESCO will be the international experts delivering a five-day course that will develop an intensive programme aimed at strengthening the capacities of the members of the Committee.
These activities will provide sustainability to the action of the Committee and the possibility to count on institutional and technical support.
A total of twenty members will be trained.
