Training workshop for radio station managers of Radio for Peace Network (RAPNET)
With the funding from UNDP, this training workshop aims to capacitate radio stations managers with the skills to engage traditional authorities and different stakeholders on peace-building initiatives. Leveraging on the strength of radio to provide a platform that gives a voice to the voiceless South Sudanese, especially those living in the rural areas where no other communication channels are available. Radio stations provide the much needed platform for strengthening the intercommunity dialogue, reporting on key issues of concern, with a view to identifying home grown solutions and linking the communities with the decision makers at the community, state and national levels.
UNESCO office in South Sudan is complementing the UNDP’s Community Security and Arms Control (CSAC) project component to “Strengthen civil society, promote accountability and engender social cohesion”, through its Radio for Peace Network (RaPNET) that brings together radio stations in South Sudan to advocate for a culture of peace, the women and youth radio listener clubs to provide women and youth with access to information, equal representation and participation in decision making, and through finalization and rolling out of the Peace mobile App in South Sudan for peace messaging.
