Sub-regional consultation on pre-service teacher training in citizenship education
The Sub-regional consultation on pre-service teacher training in citizenship education in Central America, organized by UNESCO, has an online component designed to collect the perspective of experts and professionals in education in the region, and a classroom workshop on April 26-27 in San José, Costa Rica.
This process is carried out in the framework of the Regional Strategy of Teachers, coordinated by the Regional Office of Education of UNESCO for Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC / UNESCO Santiago) producing knowledge to address information gaps detected in relation with teacher training; select experiences of teaching public policy and organize them in a record at the service of the countries.
Currently, a set of case studies and consultations on general aspects of pre-service teacher training for citizenship education is being developed. To contribute to this work from the perspective of Central American countries, UNESCO through its Cluster Office for Central America and Mexico (UNESCO San José) will develop a sub-regional report on education for citizenship in initial teacher training, based on a sub-regional questionnaire (https://es.surveymonkey.com/r/GTZVBZCUNESCO) and a face consultation with key stakeholders (Ministries of Education, teacher training institutions, teachers unions) of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.
