The conference will discuss the framework, best practices of south-south cooperation to develop environmental virtual observatories.
This event will aim to increase understanding on how best can local disaster resilience in remote mountain environments be strengthened by bringing together world-leading scientists on mountain hydrometeorology and landslide risk with experts on ICTs, citizen-science, participatory approaches to knowledge generation, and risk governance. The conference will create a platform to discuss an end-to-end solution to the generation of locally actionable knowledge for disaster risk reduction, addressing the full workflow of data generation, processing, and communication to decision-makers. This approach is based on the belief that maximum impact is created if end-users are involved from the start, using a bottom-up and participatory approach.
