On the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, celebrated each year on 6 April, UNESCO's Sport Programme and the Al-Hilal Saudi Football Club are signing a partnership agreement of three years.

Within the overall framework of ‘Sport for Development and Peace’, its objective will be to demonstrate the importance of sport as a tool to build a peaceful world, to create positive social change, to foster healthy lifestyles and a rounded education, especially for young girls and boys.

The signature ceremony will take place on 7 April 2015 at 1:45 pm in Room IV, with live transmission in Room II, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris (France).

In 2013 the UN General Assembly declared 6 April the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace to celebrate the contribution of sports and physical activity to education, human development, healthy lifestyles and a peaceful world.
